Minis
The Minis section covers all age groups from U5 to U12 inclusive and we currently have 450 young members, coached by parents and professional coaches. The game is non-contact (ie touch rugby) and light-hearted from U5 to U8 and boys and girls of these ages play in mixed teams. Contact is introduced to the U9s, at which point most girls choose to go and play in all-girls teams. We introduce children to rugby through drills and games, with an emphasis on fun, safety and inclusivity.
The minis train on Sunday mornings.
For any further enquires, please contact Keir Blaauw (head of minis) at minis@skstingrays.com or via admin@skstingrays.com.
Youth
Sai Kung Stingrays’ Youth section comprises U13 and U14 teams, U16s (made up of U15 and U16 boys) and U19s (made up of U17, U18 and U19 boys). Before Christmas, under the newly introduced Hong Kong Rugby Union youth structure, there will be two levels of competition this season:
Premiership (15-a-side league format) and Youth Championship (10/12-a-side played in bi-weekly round-robin mini tournaments).
After Christmas, teams will focus on friendly 15-a-side games and 7s tournaments.
Stingrays proposes to enter Premiership teams at each age group and additional Youth Championship teams at U16 age grade.
The U13 teams, transitioning from mini rugby will also have two divisions with 15-a-side games in a league format played every two weeks throughout the whole season.
The youth players are trained by professional coaches from our Premier partner, Kowloon Rugby Club. This enables our older players to grow and develop, either enjoying the camaraderie of social rugby, or progressing into the more competitive divisions and National Age-Grade rugby.
For any further enquiries, please contact Steve Rigby (head of youth) at admin@skstingrays.com.

Girls Rugby
The Sai Kung Stingrays has always placed great emphasis on the positive inclusion of girls and is proud to be a major force in girls’ rugby in Hong Kong. We currently have more than 100 female players and although numbers are increasing, the HKRU combines girls’ age groups (U9/U10s, U11/ U12s, U13/U14s and U15/U16s up to U19s) to enable each club and age group to field competitive teams and foster a sense of camaraderie.
Like the boys, the U9/U10s take part in monthly tournaments; the U11/U12s compete for the Kim Lam cup while the youth girls(U14s upwards) play weekly matches in a league on Sundays. One special element of the girls' season is the All Girls International Rugby 7s Tournament, which is hosted by the Sai Kung Stingrays, and is the largest girls rugby tournament in the world.
For any further enquiries, please contact James Fisher (head of girls rugby) at girlsrugby@skstingrays.com.
Stingrays Netball
Stingrays Junior Netball is a vibrant, growing part of our club. Teams train and compete weekly throughout the season with the aim of creating confident, competitive and committed netball players. Juniors are split into six age groups: minis (above 6 years), U10/U12/U14/U16/U18.
Training takes place on Saturdays from 8-12am at Pak Kong Soccer Pitch, Sai Kung.
Teams compete in the HKNA Junior Netball League (http://www.netball.org.hk/competitions)
Autumn Competition: October-December, Saturday afternoon games (Fa Hui Park, near Boundary Street, Kowloon West or Tai Wan Shan Park, Hung Hom).
Spring Competition: February - Apr, Sunday morning games (Wong Chuk Hang)
For further information, contact: netball@skstingrays.com
There are also opportunities to play for the ladies team, coach, manage or sponsor. Please contact: netball@skstingrays.com or via admin@skstingrays.com

Coaching
As part of the club’s strategy to offer quality coaching, we have implemented the requirement that all contact age group coaches be a minimum of IRB Level 1 trained. To assist with this, we have invested in coach training sessions for both Level 1 and the follow on Coacharee certification. This is an initiative that we will look to continue to ensure that both our coaches and players have the best possible resources.
Should any member wish to take up some coaching or referee training, please contact admin@skstingrays.com.
